Chennai: Two days after announcing his next project ‘Delhi Files’, the ‘Kashmir Files’ director Vivek Agnihotri on Sunday said that the movie will be unveiling many controversial ‘truths’ about the national capital while taking the audience through the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and Delhi riots 2020.

“Delhi files will tell you lots of truth about Tamil Nadu also. It’s not about Delhi, it will show how Delhi has been destroying ‘Bharat’ for so many years,” he told ANI, adding, “…Who ruled the country in Delhi from Mughal kings to the British to modern times and how they destroyed everything.”

Agnihotri further said that history should be evidence and fact-based and not narrative-based. “The problem is that a lot of people write history based on narrative or politics and the political agenda of India mostly has been the western secular agenda.”

“…And therefore the great Hindu civilization is always ignored and it is made to believe that we are weak people and everything we have learned is from western rulers or the invaders,” he said.

Speaking about the anti-Sikh riot, he said that 1984 was a dark chapter of Indian history. “The way the entire Punjab terrorism situation was handled, was inhuman,” he said, alleging that Congress cultivated terrorism in Punjab for vote bank politics.

“First, they (Congress) created it, then they destroyed it, then they killed lots of innocent people and they covered it up. Till date, there has been no justice, what can be worse than that,” he added.

Agnihotri further said that if history is taught and facts are told to people then they stand up and seek justice.

Notably, Congress spokesperson Gourav Vallabh had targeted Agnihotri after he announced ‘Delhi Files’, saying that he is a government-sponsored producer who makes films over files and dared him to make a movie on ‘Gujarat Files’.
