With the Donald Trump administration banning Huawei from doing business with US tech companies such as Google, Microsoft, Intel and more, the world’s 2nd largest smartphone maker has been working to develop its own operating system(OS).
Following Google’s ban, Huawei is entitled to use the Android platform only till August this year.
The Huawei-made OS which will be known as Hongmeng OS has been reported by Global Times to be 60 per cent faster than Android. The report claims that Oppo and Vivo have tested the OS and found this result. Though there is no official word or independent test results yet.
The new OS could roll out as soon as October and will be on nearly 225 million devices by the end of 2019, reports indicate.
