Bhubaneswar: Police have seized huge amount of explosive materials from a firecracker manufacturing unit in Odisha’s Khurda district.
As per reports, following reliable information, a team from Jatni police station in the district conducted a raid on the cracker producing unit on Friday. During the raid, they found around 40 kg of explosive materials and seized those.
They have also arrested the owner of the unit, Umakant Satpathy, as he could not furnish any valid document in support of the explosives.
The police have been conducting raids as part of the drive against anti-social activities before the dual elections in the state, sources said.
The unit was used to prepare crude bombs and supply to the criminals from the places including Pipli, Delang, Khurda and Brahmagiri. The police have identified the criminals during investigation.
Earlier, the police had arrested a gang of miscreants from the area and on the basis of their confession during questioning, the raid was conducted on the cracker unit, the sources said.
