I-Day In Bhubaneswar: No Public Participation, Know The Parking & Traffic Restrictions

Bhubaneswar: The Idco Exhibition Ground at Unit-III in Odisha capital will remain out of bounds for people during the state-level Independence Day parade from 6.30 am on August 15.

Commissioner of Police Soumyendra Priyadarshi told the media that there will be restrictions on the entry of the public when Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik unfurls the Tricolour on the occasion of India’s 75th Independence Day.

Only three battalions will be taking part in the state-level parade in the state capital.

“No student groups have been included in the parade this year in view of the COVID pandemic,” Priyadarshi said while reviewing the full-dress rehearsal of the parade at the Idco ground on Thursday with DGP Abhay.

The I &PR Department will supply the live feed for telecast and webcasting of the event, he said.

Elaborating on the security arrangements, the CP said that 12 platoons of the police force will be deployed while 70 officers will also be mobilised at the spot.

THE RESTRICTIONS

I. No vehicles shall be allowed to ply in between NIBS blocking — St Joseph lane blocking a stretch of Ram Mandir and Housing Board Square from 6.30 am onwards till the parade is over.

2. Vehicles coming from the Housing Board side intending to go towards Ram Mandir will be allowed up to MBS lane blocking at Housing Board square where they will be diverted towards the Kendriya Vidyalaya. lane. Similarly, vehicles coming from Ram Mandir square intending to go towards Housing Board Square will be allowed up to St Joseph lane where they will be diverted towards the Kendriya Vidyalaya lane exiting out at NIBS lane blocking near Homing Board square.

3. There will be blocking at the Hotel Charlie lane where vehicles coming from PMG, Keshari Talkies side will be diverted towards Sachivalaya Marg. There will be blocking at lanes exiting out at gate No. I and II emerging from Sachivalaya Marg.

4. Lanes emerging from Kendriya Vidyalaya lane existing out at the Housing Board Ram Mandir road will be blocked and there will be no vehicular movement on MBS blocking – St. joseph lane blocking stretch.

5. Selling of gas balloons is strictly prohibited in the area near Madhusudan Marg between Ram Mandir Square and Housing Board Square.

The violators will be fined Rs 500 and the amount can extend up to Rs 1,000.
