Bhubaneswar: Former Women and Child Development Minister in BJD government Anjali Behera joined the BJP on Monday.
She joined the saffron party during Mishran Parva held at the party office here in presence of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and BJP state Vice-President Sameer Mohanty.
A few other leaders and workers of the ruling party also joined BJP during the programme.
“BJD has caused much harm to me and my family. I along with my father and mother selflessly served people in Dhenkanal, but in return, the party kicked us out,” she told the media after joining the BJP.
A three-time MLA from Hindol Assembly Constituency in Dhenkanal, Behera was denied a party ticket by the BJD in the 2014 Assembly elections when the ruling party instead fielded Seemarani Nayak.
She had represented the constituency in 2000, 2004 and 2009.
