Illegal Arms Unit Busted Inside OUAT Govt Quarters In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has busted an illegal arms manufacturing unit operating from a government quarter in the Odisha capital.

The unit was operating inside the official residence of an employee of Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT).

Police has arrested Nrusingha Nayak, 45, who is a resident of Sarakantara and employee of OUAT.

The operation which came in midst of the ongoing elections to the State Assembly and Lok Sabha, has sent shock waves throughout the city.

“We recovered brass pipes, gun powder and other materials used in manufacturing guns along with three unfinished revolvers. More details will be divulged after preliminary investigation and interrogation are completed,” said police commissioner Satyajit Mohanty.
