Bhubaneswar: As part of the National Sports Week from August 26 to 31, Odisha’s Sports & Youth Services Department organised a Kickboxing and Pencak Silat performance in the backdrop of the Dhauligiri Peace Pagoda, at the site of the historic Kalinga War here.
Ekamara MLA Babu Singh was the chief guest at the ceremony, which was also attended by Director, Sports, other senior officers of Department of Sports & Youth Services (DSYS), officials of Amateur Kick Boxing Association of Odisha and Penchak Silat Association of Odisha.

Kick Boxing originated in Europe while Penchak Silat is a traditional martial art of Indonesia and Malaysia.
The martial arts performances showcased special skills, discipline and agility of the athletes, wowing the audience.
DSYS also celebrated National Sports Week with an athletics event at Kalinga Stadium.
Athletes of state-run sports hostels took a Fit India Pledge and also participated in several track and field events including sprint, long jump and javelin throw.
