Balasore: With heavy rain battering Odisha, a car plunged into a pond along National Highway No 16 at Simulia in Odisha’s Balasore district late on Tuesday.
It is being suspected that the accident took place when the driver lost control over the car while travelling to Dhamnagar from Dhamra due to poor visibility amid incessant rain in the area. Local rescued five occupants of the car and two among them have been admitted to the district headquarters hospital at Bhadrak, sources said.
The identity of the victims is yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile, Simulia police and Fire Service personnel have reached the spot and efforts are on to get the vehicle out of the pond.
