New Delhi: The deadline of June 30 to link Aadhaar with their PAN card is approaching. Earlier, while extending the last date, the Income Tax department also imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 for taxpayers who apply for the linking till the last date. In a fresh tweet, the IT department has again reminded taxpayers to not miss the deadline, warning them “miss it at your own risk”. According to officials, linking one’s PAN with Aadhaar is an important step to help curb tax evasion.
“As per Income-tax Act, 1961, it is mandatory for all PAN holders, who do not fall under the exempt category, to link their PAN with Aadhaar on or before 30.06.2023. Please link your PAN & Aadhaar today,” the Income Tax department said in a June 13 tweet.
