New Delhi: Indian Army dogs Vida and Sophie were acknowledged for their role in different operations during the 74th Independence Day celebrations on Saturday. Both were awarded the Chief of Army Staff ‘Commendation Cards’, which are given to dogs for good performance while on duty.
Last year, the Army developed an audio-video surveillance system integrated with a protective bulletproof jacket, which can be mounted on Army dogs to catch information about location and strength of enemy from a safe distance.
The camera and transmitter in the gadget send the information on the receiver that can be at a distance up to 1 km from enemy location.
Fondly called the the ‘Silent Warriors’, the Army dogs have proven to be a great asset for the security forces and help India stay safe.
