Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will hoist National Flag during Independence Day parade at Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar.
This was revealed after a preparatory meeting held in Bhubaneswar to discuss the Independence Day celebration in the state on Monday.
The Chief Minister gave this direction at the meeting with senior officials of the Home and Information and Public Relations departments. Majhi also directed that more financial allocations be made for the Independence Day celebrations in the districts.
Around 40 contingents, including NCC cadets from different schools and colleges, are likely to participate in the parade.
The Chief Minister will attend the state-level Independence Day function in Bhubaneswar as chief guest and hoist the National Flag at 9 am before addressing the people on the occasion.
It may be noted that the government had earlier shifted the state-level Independence Day parade from Mahatma Gandhi Marg to the Exhibition Ground following restrictions due to COVID-19 pandemic.
