Bhubaneswar: Odisha sprinter Dutee Chand emerged the winner in the 100-metre race with a timing of 11.51 seconds at the Indian Grand Prix I on Thursday.

Around 85 athletes took part in the first post-COVID track and field event — Indian Grand Prix — held at the National Institute of Sports, Patiala.

Dutee’s personal best and national record is 11.24 seconds for 100m dash. She missed this year’s Olympic Games qualification time of 11.15 seconds, but looks set to book a berth to Japan in 2021.

Racing after almost 15 months, the Odisha sprinter faced little competition from her rivals at the NIS in the meet. The Asian Games silver medallists in 100m and 200m races maintained her winning streak in the domestic arena. It may be recalled that the domestic calendar was cancelled following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic last year.
