New Delhi: After five days of over three lakh daily COVID-19 cases, India logged 2,55,874 fresh cases on Tuesday, which is 16.39 per cent lower than Monday’s 3.06 lakh cases.
The new COVID cases reported on Tuesday took the infection tally to almost 3.98 crore in India, according to Union Health Ministry data. India is the second worst-hit country after the US.
India’s active cases now are 5.62 per cent of the total infections. The national COVID-19 recovery rate increased marginally to 93.15 per cent. The active cases currently stand at 22,36,842.
The daily positivity rate — a key marker of the pandemic’s status — has dipped to 15.52 per cent from yesterday’s 20.75 per cent. The weekly positivity rate though was recorded at 17.17 per cent.
India also saw 614 fresh fatalities in the past 24 hours, which took the COVID-related death count to 4,90,462 since the start of the pandemic.
