Bhubaneswar: Akasa Air, the ultra low-cost carrier, has started services from Bhubaneswar to Bengaluru and Pune with a total of 14 weekly flights.
The first flight took off from Biju Patnaik International Airport here on April 17. After the lamp-lighting ceremony, Airport Director Prasanna Pradhan handed over boarding passes to passengers of the new flight to Pune.
“As the fastest growing airline in the country we are delighted to add Bhubaneswar to our ever-expanding network, marking our arrival in Odisha. Bhubaneswar is a scenic, green and clean city with a strong cultural heritage rooted in ancient temples and rich architecture. Having seamless connectivity at affordable fares across major cities such as Bengaluru and Pune will boost travel and tourism for the historic city, and we look forward to adding more destinations to the flight map of the country,” said Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer, Akasa Air, Praveen Iyer.
According to the schedule, the flight will depart from Bengaluru at 5.40 am and arrive here at 7.50 am on a daily basis. It will take off from Bhubaneswar at 2.05 pm and land in Bengaluru at 4.20 pm. The flight to Pune will take off from Bhubaneswar at 8.40 am and reach ‘Queen of the Deccan’ at 10.50 am. It be take off from there at 11.25 am and arrive here at 1.30 pm.
