Mumbai: A Delhi-bound IndiGo flight from Mumbai was diverted to Ahmedabad after receiving a bomb threat.
However, after a thorough check, the threat turned out to be a hoax.
The Tuesday midnight flight was carrying about 200 passengers. Soon after it was airborne, a tweet by an unidentified person claimed a bomb was placed inside the plane, news reports based on information provided by an official at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at Ahemedabad said.
After being alerted by the Mumbai ATC, the pilots decided to land the plane at the nearest airport.
“After landing here midnight, the aircraft, carrying nearly 200 passengers and crew, was thoroughly checked by the security agencies overnight. However, nothing suspicious was found. The flight took off for Delhi at around 8 this morning after a green signal from the security personnel,” the official added.
