As the World celebrates Earth Day 2021, philanthropist and Tata Group’s Chairman Emeritus Ratan Tata patted some young innovators and volunteers of small cities and towns for their initiatives towards saving the planet.
In his Instagram page, the industrialist spoke about 14-year-old Haaziq Kazi for his innovative project – ERVIS ship which can suck out all the deadly waste from the sea, including the plastic.
Another organisation Hasiru Dala Innovations Private Limited, Bengaluru was mentioned with pride by the industrialist. Hasiru Dala, which means Green Force, is a social impact organisation that works with waste pickers and other waste workers to ensure a life with dignity. The organisation has turned manual waste-pickers into “micro-entrepreneurs”.
The others, as per Ratan Tata, who are making their efforts to bring a change and make the earth a liveable planet are National Geographic Explorer Arati Kumar-Rao was who has been documenting the impact of changing land-use patterns on natural ecosystems as well as livelihoods of people dependent on them.
New Leaf Dynamic Technologies, Himalayan Rocket Stove, environmentalists Dr Purnima Devi Barman, Suprabha Seshan and Dr Krithi Karanth too received Tata’s salute on this Earth Day.
The Earth Day is celebrated every year on April 22 with a message. This year it is being celebrated with the theme “Restore Our Earth”.
