Angul: A day after a video of a grandmother’s inhuman behaviour went viral, a similar incident was reported from Gadatarasa village under Bantala police limits in Angul district on Sunday.
This time too, a video of the grandma thrashing her three-year-old granddaughter is doing the rounds on social media.
The accused woman has been identified as Kumudidni Rout (48).
In the video, she is seen mercilessly beating the three-year-old with a broomstick. The girl sustained severe injuries on her face. She also kept her locked in a room.
Bantala police with the help of ward member and Anganwadi workers rescued the girl, after being intimated by locals.
According to sources, Asit Rout’s wife Diptimayee Rout had died a year back. His two daughters have been staying with their grandmother since then. As Asit is working as helper in a bus, he mostly stays away from home.
However, the reason behind this incident is yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile, Bantala police have detained the grandmother for questioning.
Notably, a grandmother brutally thrashed her seven-year-old grandson at Gangadharpur village under Basta block in Balasore district, the video of which went viral on Saturday. The boy was later rescued by the CWC.
