Bhubaneswar: An INSAS rifle of a police officer posted at the 7th Battalion here was allegedly stolen during President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to Odisha last week.
The officer, identified as P Lachhmaya, has registered a complaint in this connection at Maitri Vihar police station here.
“The matter is being treated with utmost seriousness. Efforts are on to recover the rifle. Officers of the battalion are also conducting a simultaneous probe,” Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh told the media.
Murmu arrived in Odisha on a four-day visit on February 28. She will grace the 53rd convocation of Utkal University in Bhubaneswar on February 29. The following day, she also attended a presentation of PM JANMAN by the Odisha government at Raj Bhavan here.
