Bhubaneswar: The International Odissi Dance Festival in Bhubaneswar concluded on Saturday with spectacular performance by dancers in different formats of the classical dance.
The morning session on the final day of the festival began with lighting of the traditoonal lamp by Guru Muktilata Pal, Guru Pitamber Biswal and Guru Jyoti Rout. Adi Guru Odissi Gurkul Charitable Trust (Group) from Bhubaneswar, Satarupa Saha (Solo) from Kolkata, Maharaja Bhoi (Solo) from Bhubaneswar, Amrita & Sujata Seth (Duet) from Bhubaneswar, Lipsa Dalai (Solo) from Bhubaneswar, Krisha Rath (Solo) from USA, Archana Sahoo & Mamata Bhoi (Duet) from Puri, Mrittika Mukhopadhyay (Solo) from Kolkata, Sefali Pattnaik (Solo) from Bhubaneswar and Puri Dance Academy (Group) from Puri presented some brilliant performances to the appreciation of Odissi lovers.
Guru Durga Charan Ranbir, Guru Niranjan Rout and Guru Ramesh Chandra Das started the afternoon session with the lighting of the lamp. In this session, Nrutyasudha Dance Academy Trust (Group) from Bhubaneswar, Rohini Yadav & Pragya Sen (Duet) from Kolkata, Satya Prakash Sahoo (Solo) from Bhadrak, Anushka Nayak & Saloni Das (Duet) from Bhubaneswar, Sasmita Das (Solo) from Bhubaneswar and Shatabdi Nrityayan (Group) from Kolkata showcases their talent.
The evening programme started with the performance by renowned dancer Sharmila Biswas from Kolkata. She presented ‘Bilasini’ followed by ‘Barabadhu’ by Sarita Mishra from Bengaluru. Next item was duet performance by Buddhiram Bal & Biswajit Mohapatra from Bhubaneswar. They were followed by solo dance by Diptiranjan Baral from Bhubaneswar.
Next solo dance was performed by Ankita Rath from Bhubaneswar. She presented ‘Shyama Pherija’, followed by another duet performance by Diksha Rath & Divya Rath from USA. The next items were presented Anushree Padmanabha (Solo) from Bengaluru, Yuko Ishizuka & Mai Watanabe (Duet) from Japan and the last presentation was group Odissi by the students of Shinjan Nrityalaya.
The concluding evening of the festival was attended by Aswini Kumar Patra, Minister of Odia Language, Literature, Culture, Tourism and Excise; Sulochana Das, Bhubaneswar Mayor; Lenin Mohanty, Chairman, OTDC Ltd; Kumkum Mohanty, Odissi exponent; Sikata Das, Chief Executive, GKCM Odissi Research Centre and Anuja Tarini Mishra, Administrative Officer, GKCM Odissi Reach Centre. The programme was anchored by Mrutyunjaya Rath.
The festival was organised by Guru Kelu Charan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre under the aegis of Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture.
