Bengaluru: Punjab Kings spent big on two players while Gujarat Titans bought the most players after the first bidding on the second day of the IPL 2022 mega auction here on Sunday.
Aiden Markram was the first player to go under the hammer and Sunrisers Hyderbad picked him for Rs 2.60 crore.
Kolkata Knight Riders bought Ajinkya Rahane at his base price of Rs 1 crore while Delhi Capitals picked Mandeep Singh for Rs 1.1 crore.
The real bidding tussle on the day was for England all-rounder Liam Livingstone with KKR, Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans entering the fray. While Gujarat backed out after raising the stakes to Rs 10 crore, Punjab Kings outlasted SRH to bag him for a whopping sum of Rs 11.50 crore.
Gujarat Titans then settled for West Indies bowler Dominic Drakes at Rs 1.1 crore and Jayant Yadav and Vijay Shankar at Rs 1 crore and Rs 1.40 crore respectively.
Punjab Kings again nipped SRH to buy Jamaican cricketer Odean Smith for Rs 6 crore.
SRH bagged Marco Jasen for Rs 4.20 after being at loggerheads with Mumbai Indians.
Chennai Super King purchased Shivam Dube for Rs 4 crore.
Krishnappa Gowtham was the last player in this set to be brought by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 90 lakh.
