Mumbai: A total of 1,214 cricketers — 896 Indian and 318 from overseas — have registered for the IPL players’ auction.
The two-day mega auction will be held in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13, when 10 teams – including the two new franchises based in Lucknow and Ahmedabad — will bid to form their teams for the 15th edition of the most popular T20 league from the pool comprising 270 capped, 903 uncapped and 41 Associate country players.
Australia have registered the most number of players (59) for the auction, followed by South Africa (48) and the West Indies (41). A few players from Nepal and United States have also registered for the auction.
The last date for player registration was January 20.
Among Indian players to have listed themselves in the Rs 2 crore base price bracket are Devdutt Padikkal, Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan, Ishan Kishan, Suresh Raina, Harshal Patel, R Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Rahul Chahar, Umesh Yadav, Mohammad Shami and Shardul Thakur.

Overseas players whose bidding will start from Rs 2 crore include David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Pat Cummins, Adam Zampa, Steven Smith (all Australia), Faf du Plessis, Quinton de Kock, Kagiso Rabada (all South Africa), Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh), Mark Wood (England), Trent Boult (New Zealand) and Dwayne Bravo (West Indies).
The existing eight franchises have retained three players from their previous team, while the two new franchises have picked up three cricketers each from the available pool.
