Bhubaneswar: Odisha FC failed to defend their lead, not once but twice, and ultimately drew 2-2 with Mumbai City FC in their ISL-10 clash at Kalinga Stadium here on Thursday evening.

Jerry Mawihmingthanga, who had scored Odisha FC’s first goal of the season in their opening 2-0 win against Chennaiyin FC last weekend, found the mark again today. The 26-year-old winger showed great opportunism to tap the ball into the Mumbai City netting after their goalkeeper Mohammed Nawaz failed to collect properly moments before half-time.

Rosly Griffiths levelled scores two minutes into the second session.

Roy Krishna restored Odisha FC’s lead when he converted a penalty in the 76th minute. It was the Brazilian striker’s first goal in Odisha FC colours.

The Kalinga Warriors nearly ran down the clock for their second victory on the trot, only to be disappointed two minutes from the end of regulation time.

Argentine Jorge Perreyra Diaz found the equaliser in the nick of time to break Odisha FC players’ and fans’ hearts.

Odisha FC’s next ISL fixture is on the road, against FC Goa on October 7.
