Bhubaneswar: Odisha FC’s love affair with Kalinga Stadium continued as they maintained their all-win record at home in ISL-9 with a 2-1 victory over NorthEast United FC on Friday night.
It was Odisha’s fourth win here in as many matches, as the Juggernauts climbed to second place with 18 points from 8 matches – 3 points behind current leaders Mumbai City FC.
Nandhakumar Sekar scored in the 24th minute from a Diego Mauricio assist to give Odisha a slender lead at half-time.
The scoreline remained static till the hour-mark, when substitute Rochharzela guided Imran Khan’s cross past NEUFC custodian Arindam Bhattacharjee.
Jerry Mawihmingthanga then showed perfect striker’s instinct in the 77th minute to pounce on a partial save from Arindam and slot the ball into the netting, thus ensuring all three points for his team.
As for NEUFC, the season gets more and more disappointing as they have lost all 8 matches.
