Bhubaneswar: The Jagdalpur-Bhubaneswar Hirakhand Express got stuck inside a tunnel for around five hours in Odisha’s Rayagada district.
According to ECoR sources, the train got stuck up on the KK line near Rauli due to an OHE (Electrical) problem. Panic prevailed among the passengers and they complained of breathing problem. Children and infants in the train started crying.
The train left Tikiri railway station in Rayagada and was heading towards Rauli, the next station, at around 8.51 pm on Monday. There was a broken electric pole on the track inside the tunnel through which the train was about to pass.
The train collided hit the pole in the tunnel and the wire got entangled in the wheels.
Getting information, two relief trains reached the spot for the restoration work.
The Bhubaneswar-Jagdalpur Hirakhand Express will leave Bhubaneswar at 10.30 pm instead of 7.35 pm on Tuesday due to late running of the link rake.
A team has been formed to investigate the incident.
