Cuttack: IPS officer Jagmohan Meena officially assumed charge as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Cuttack, on Tuesday.
He was earlier posted as Ganjam SP.
As the festive season commences, the 2013-batch IPS officer has laid out a series of strategic initiatives to strengthen law and order in the culturally-vibrant Cuttack city. “The first focus will be on smooth conduct of the festival,” he said.
With an emphasis on improving police-public relations against the backdrop of the recent Bharatpur custody assault incident which earned the Commissionerate Police some brickbats, Meena said that he would prioritise soft skill training for officers to ensure more professional and courteous behaviour with complainants within police stations.
“Crime against women will be dealt strongly,” said Meena adding that police response times during emergencies will be significantly reduced.
To facilitate easier communication, he stated that his official phone number and WhatsApp contact would be circulated widely among the public, allowing citizens to report incidents or seek assistance directly.
“Efforts are underway to maintain a list of known professional criminals, who will be closely monitored during the festive period to prevent potential disruptions. Special attention is being given to the protection of women, with increased vigilance and measures aimed at safeguarding their security,” the new DCP added.
Meena expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve in Cuttack, stating that he is delighted to work in a city with such rich cultural heritage. “We will ensure proactive approach toward maintaining peace and order and foster stronger ties between law enforcement and the community,” he added.
