Phulbani: The security measures at Jalespata Ashram in Kandhamal district have been strengthened by the Odisha police in view of Janmashtami festivities on Monday.
During their visit to the Jalespata ashram, Inspector General (IG) of the Southern Range Jai Narayan Pankaj and Superintendent of Police (SP) Suvendu Kumar Patra reviewed security plans for the Janmashtami festival.
Pankaj also held discussion with Baliguda Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Rahul Goel and Tumudibandha Police Station IIC Ashutosh Jena about the deployment of the security forces in and around the Jalespata ashram.
Police patrolling also has been intensified on each and every route that connects the ashram. Besides, police forces have been deployed at all the major and vulnerable areas to maintain law and order.
Lakhs of devotees are expected to take part in the celebration tomorrow which also coincides with the death anniversary of Swami Lakshmanananda Saraswati, who was killed along with his four security personnel on August 23, 2008.
