Dhenkanal: As many as eight persons were arrested in connection with BJD leader Jasobant Parida murder case, Dhenkanal SP Santosh Nayak informed on Thursday.
Highlighting the details regarding the crime in a press conference here, Nayak said, “The prime accused in the case identified as Rakesh Nayak, who was arrested from West Bengal, had hired a contract killer to murder Parida over a dispute related to tender fixing.”
The SP said, “Investigations revealed that Nayak wanted to become the don of Kamakhyanagar area after eliminating Parida as he was denied extortion money from a contract company because of the BJD leader. The concerned company had also terminated Nayak’s father, who was working with it.”
Parida, the youth president of Dhenkanal district was shot dead by four miscreants on March 26 near Gandhi temple here. The incident took place when Parida was on his way from Dhenkanal in his Indigo car to oversee work at his under-construction house at Anantapur in Kamakhyanagar, where he also owns a medicine store.
