Jajpur: A female Jatra artiste, Sasmita Khatua, was electrocuted to death before her stage performance at Duburi village under Sukinda block in Jajpur district on Sunday.
According to reports, Sasmita was staying in an rented accommodation and the iron door of the house was charged with electricity after coming in contact with a live electric cable. She suffered electric shock while opening the door and was rushed to Danagadi community health centre, where doctors declared her dead.
Sasmita, popularly known as Minakshi in the Jatra industry, was a leading actress associated with Baghajatin Gananatya. A resident of Ghasipada in Balasore district, she was married to Biswajit Khatua, a managing member of Jatra company.
Police has registered a case of unnatural death and started investigation.
