Jharsuguda: A couple was apprehended by Childline officials while allegedly trying to sell a newborn boy at Ekatali in Jharsuguda district on Thursday.
On being informed by the reliable sources, the Childline officials reached the spot and detained the couple.
According to sources, the couple is very poor and not financially stable to take care of their newborn and therefore decided to sell him to a person hailing from Raigarh of Chhattisgarh.
The newborn boy is under Child Welfare Committee’s care now.
Further investigation is underway.
