Jiah Khan Case: CBI & Mother’s Request For Further Probe Dismissed

Mumbai: A special court on Thursday dismissed petitions seeking permission for further probe in actress Jiah Khan’s alleged suicide.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Jiah’s mother Rabia Khan had filed the petitions. Rabia earlier claimed superstar Salman Khan had influenced CBI to close the case.

CBI had sought permission from the special court to send a ‘dupatta’, purportedly used by Jiah to hang herself, to Central Forensic Laboratory for further analysis. CBI was also keen on sending some seized mobile phones to Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the US to retrieve ‘deleted’ chats between Jiah and Sooraj Pancholi.

Pancholi, booked for alleged abetment to suicide, is out on bail.

Objecting to the pleas, Pancholi’s lawyer Prashant Patil argued that the matter has already been decided by the High Court and Supreme Court.

Jiah Khan, who made a mark in ‘Nishabd’ — which also featured Amitabh Bachchan — was found hanging at her residence on June 3, 2013. She was allegedly in a relationship with Pancholi, son of Bollywood couple Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab.

A three-page note allegedly written by Jiah, which was seized by Mumbai Police — who probed the case before CBI took over – referred to her and Sooraj’s “intimate relationship” and “her physical abuse and mental and physical torture” by Sooraj, which led to the suicide.
