New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday directed the security agencies to replicate the successful policy of Kashmir Valley in Jammu, through the Area Domination Plan and Zero Terror Plan.
Shah, who chaired a high-level meeting on the security situation in Jammu & Kashmir following multiple terror attacks recently, directed the authorities and security agencies to take stringent action against supporters of terrorism in Jammu.
He highlighted the need for robust security cover for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra and directed officials to ensure safety on all routes and key locations, India Today TV reported. The Amarnath Yatra is scheduled to start on June 29 and end on August 19.
The report quoted sources as saying that Shah instructed top security officials to deliver a “strong response” to emerging terrorism in Jammu region and prevent its resurgence at any cost.
Shah ordered the closure of all infiltration points in the Kashmir Valley used by terrorists.
A strong message was also sent out for coordinated efforts to safeguard all pilgrimage sites, including Vaishno Devi and Shivkhori.
Among those present at the meeting were National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir Manoj Sinha, Army Chief General Manoj Pande, Army Chief-designate Lt General Upendra Dwivedi, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Director of Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, Director General of CRPF Anish Dayal Singh, Director General of Jammu & Kashmir Police RR Swain and other top security officials.
