New Delhi: With the Monsoon session of the Parliament underway, journalists in New Delhi on Monday staged a protest in Parliament against restrictions on their movement in its premises.
They alleged that they were removed and not allowed to stand in front of ‘Makar Dwar’. At this Dwar, they used to interact with Parliamentarians from all sides.
The Press Club of India had shared a video highlighting the protest, in which the journalists were seen demanding the immediate lifting of such restrictions.
Reacting to the video shared by the Press Club of India, a blue-ticked user of X—goes by the name of Ravindra Baba—wrote: “Forth pillar of democracy is being kept behind the glass wall. They are only allowed to watch but not allowed to ask…. Because government deems him “watchdog” and nothing else…”
Another user, Rajat Agarwala, wrote on X: “Strangling of Free Press is not good for democracy.”
