JSW Eye Camp Targets To Cover 10,000 People At Plant Site In Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur

Paradip: As part of its healthcare initiative, JS has been conducting free eye camp in the areas around its plant site in Jagatsinghpur district.

The camp that is organised under the aegis of JSW Foundation kickstarted at Patana Primary School and Anganwadi centre of Dhinkia panchayat and is now held at Mahala and Gobindpur villages.

Elderly and old age residents constitute majority of people who undergo eye checkup. They can avail free treatment at the camp after a simple registration process by submitting their names through Aadhaar card. About 80% of participants have been detected with presbyopia. 

The patients are being given free lenses for specific problems after the examination. Those who need advance eye care are referred for advanced treatment.

Around 200 people are undergoing eye examination per day. The authorities stated that the camp would cover around 10,000 people during one month. It will be held in different parts of Nuagaon and Gadkujang panchayats till the last week of April.

Similar camps are in pipeline for Sandhakud and Nehru Bangla area of Paradip Municipality in future.

The camp is a convergence initiative with the District Public Health Administration. Bhumika Eye Hospital and Vision Spring voluntary institution have also collaborated with JSW foundation.
