Puri: Leaky roof of the Jagmohan following incessant rain hampered rituals at the Jagannath Temple in Puri on Tuesday.
The ‘Ballav Bhog’ of Lord Jagannath and his siblings got delayed with water dripping down the roof. The servitors resumed the rituals after the rain stopped.
General secretary of Jagannath Sevayat Sammilani Kashinath Khuntia said that he noticed water flowing under his feet inside the Garbha Gruha of the 12th century shrine during ‘Mangala Alati’ darshan. He found the roof leaking and that the Ballav Pindi and the Chandua had got wet.
“We have apprised the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) authorities of the matter and requested them to take up the issue with the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), which had conducted the repair works three months ago”, he added.
Notably, the ASI had on March 6 had filed an affidavit before the Orissa High Court stating that the repair works of the Jagamohan had been completed. The hall was thrown opened for public darshan on April 16 after being closed for almost two years.
