Kangana Ranaut Sells Her Mumbai’s Pali Hill Bungalow Amid ‘Emergency’ Release Row

Mumbai: Bollywood actor and Mandi MP, Kangana Ranaut, has sold her Mumbai bungalow at Bandra’s Pali Hill for Rs 32 crore.

This is the same bungalow where Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) carried out a demolition in 2020 amid heightened tension between Kangana and Shiv Sena government led by Uddhav Thackeray.

Kangana had reportedly bought this property at Chetak CHS on Nargis Dutt Road in Pali Hill, Bandra west, in 2017 for Rs 20 crore.

The actor-turned-politician has been in the news lately due to problems with the release of her latest film, Emergency, which has not been cleared by the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in view of an order by the Madhya Pradesh High Court, which told CBFC to consider the grievances of complainant Sikh organisation before clearing the film. Kangana moved to Bombay High Court, but got no relief there.

The Pali Hill bungalow has a built-up area of 3,075 square feet and a parking area of 565 square feet. The transaction, registered on September 5, cost Rs 1.92 crore in stamp duty and Rs 30,000 in registration fees. The property has been bought by Shweta Bathija, a partner of Coimbatore-headquartered Kamalini Holdings, HT reported citing property registration documents accessed by Zapkey.

Following the demolition of a small part of her bungalow, Kangana maintained that she would sue BMC and seek compensation for what she termed illegal demolition but did not pursue it legally. Later, she said she didn’t want compensation as it would be taxpayers’ money.

Kangana had declared an asset of Rs 91 crore, Rs 28.7 crore moveable, and Rs 62.9 crore immovable as part of Lok Sabha 2024 election declarations.

Kangana recently bought a 407-square-foot office unit on the 19th floor of the Arch One building for Rs 1.56 crore in Mumbai’s Andheri neighbourhood.
