Mumbai: Karan Johar has no doubt that Alia Bhatt is the best actor, across genders, currently working in the Hindi film industry.
But the filmmaker is also worried about the 23-year-old actress.
The reason?
Johar is of the opinion that Alia may have become ‘too good too soon’, and will have to live up to expectations all the time.
“I always pray for her… Because it’s too much too soon. Shah Rukh once said, ‘Too much too soon, she will always have to be at the top of her game’,” Johar told Galatta Plus, an all-India cinema channel.
Johar said that he called up the actress after watching ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ and choked up, saying that he feels privileged to be working at a time when Alia is also around.
Alia’s breakthrough film was ‘Student of the Year’, which was directed by Johar and released in 2012.
Johar, however, doesn’t want to take any credit for launching a talented star.
“I gave her the least challenging role of her career… Everyone gives me credit for Alia, and I deserve no credit,” Johar conceded.
He added that while he may have given Alia an ‘emotional launch’, it was Imtiaz Ali who gave her a ‘professional launch’ with the 2014 film ‘Highway’.
The duo will reunite for Johar’s upcoming film ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’, which is due to release in February 2023.
