Puri: Like previous years, elaborate arrangements are being made for ‘Habisyalis’ who will visit Odisha’s pilgrim town of Puri in the holy month of Kartik this time. Preparations for ‘Kartika Brata’ commenced on Monday.
The registration for booking rooms in Puri for ‘Kartika Brata’ will begin from October 1. ‘Kartika Brata’ will be observed from October 29 to November 27 this year for which a preparatory meeting was held today, Puri Collector Samarth Verma told reporters.
The registration by ‘Habisyalis’ will be done at collectors’ offices in all the districts. It can be done in both offline and online mode, he said.
The authorities are making arrangements to host 3,000 Habisyalis this year. A multi-storey building for Habisyalis was inaugurated at Narendra Kona by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik last year. While Brundabati Niwas will accommodate over 1500 Habisyalis, arrangements are being at other places also.
Lifeguards will be deployed at the holy Narendra pond for the safety of Habisyalis. Special arrangements will be made for darshan of the deities at Shree Jagannath Temple and partaking Mahaprasad.
