Bhubaneswar: With the Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao likely to meet his Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik in the first week of May, speculation is rife in political circles on the formation of a third front.
As reported by the ANI, the two leaders would discuss issues in the context of national politics.
“The manner in which the Odisha chief minister is able to garner support from the people and make statements on national perspective, he is consulted by the like-minded leaders,” government chief whip Amar Prasad Satpathy told mediapersons here.
On the other hand, the BJP leader Pradip Purohit said the regional parties are trying to come together as they are scared of the rising popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Odisha chief minister, however, said his meeting with KCR will be purely informal.
“As far as I know, the Telangana chief minister is going on a pilgrimage to Puri. On the way, he is paying me a courtesy call. There will be no discussions on a federal front or anything to do with politics,” he told media persons here.
