New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is disappointed with the Tihar Jail administration’s recent statement on his health, saying he had been requesting insulin daily as he is a diabetic patient and has high blood sugar levels. In a letter to the Superintendent of Tihar Jail, Kejriwal said his glucose metre reading had a “dangerous” range between 250 and 320. He said the jail administration was lying about his health due to “political pressure”.
Earlier, a Tihar Jail source said Kejriwal had a video consultation with AIIMS doctors on April 20. The doctors said the Delhi Chief Minister had no “serious health concerns”, India Today reported quoting sources.
The CM dismissed the AIIMS doctors’ assurances that his health was fine and there was no serious concern. He clarified that doctors would provide details on data and the history of his health issues. Notably, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the Tihar administration of denying insulin to Kejriwal and a conspiracy to kill him. The Tihar Jail administration organised the April 20 video conference at the request of Kejrriwal’s wife, Sunita. The jailed CM’s complete record of the glucose monitoring sensor and details of his diet and medicines were checked during the consultation.
