Bhubaneswar: More than 100 teaching posts were created at Khallikote Unitary University in Odisha’s Berhampur by the Higher Education department on Thursday.
According to sources, 112 teaching posts include ranks of professor, associate professor, and assistant professor in 16 departments of the university. With the creation of 16 new professor posts, the number has increased to 32 while it is 64 in case assistant professor posts.
Currently, 56 among 88 posts for regular teaching staff in 18 departments are lying vacant and the university is being run by 53 guest faculties due to the absence of permanent faculty members. The new posts would be filled up through direct recruitment as per Section-21 of the Odisha Universities Act, 1989, the official notification said.
Notably, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik accorded unitary university status to Khallikote Autonomous College in Berhampur on May 5, 2021. The 166-year-old institution is one of the oldest in the state.
