Bhubaneswar: Odisha cycling international Swasti Singh continued her run of success in the Asmita Khelo India Women’s Cycling League, bagging a gold and a silver on the opening day of the North Zone Track Events at GNDU Cycling Velodrome in Amritsar on Friday.
The Rourkela girl won gold in 500m individual time trial, clocking 40.096 seconds, and silver in 200m sprint with a time of 13.419 seconds. The two medals in track events followed the two gold and a silver she claimed in the North Zone Road events, which were held in Haryana’s Sonipat on August 30 and Amritsar on September 3 and 4.
The 23-year-old Swasti has taken her total Khelo India Women’s League medals tally to 19, including 10 this year. The 19 medals include six gold, 12 silver and 1 bronze.
Two days back, she reached a career milestone of 50 medals with a silver in the Road event of the Khelo India North Zone League in Amritsar.
A trainee of Patiala-based SAI National Centre of Excellence, Swasti has bright chances of grabbing three more medals on the second and last day of the North Zone Track events. She will be eyeing a medal each in 3km individual pursuit finals, scratch race and keirin.
