Bhubaneswar: Shrivani Khetra on the premises of KISS in Odisha capital is all set for Rath Yatra of sibling deities on Friday.
According to the schedule of the car festival announced by KIIT Jagannath Temple Trust, Pahandi Bije (grand procession of the deities from inside the temple to the chariots) will start at 10 am. Chherapahanra (sweeping of chariots) will be performed between 3 pm and 4 pm.
The devotees will pull the chariots from 4.30 pm onwards. As per the tradition, the chariots of Lord Jagannath and Lord Balabhadra are pulled by men and that of Devi Subhadra by women during the festival.
Expecting an increase in footfall in the Rath Yatra, which will have public participation after 2 years, the temple trust has made elaborate arrangements keeping different aspects including security and convenience of the devotees in view.
The temple has been decorated with colourful lights and the road where the chariots will be pulled has been brightly lighted. Founder of KIIT and KISS Dr Achyuta Samanta has advised the organisers and members of the temple trust to ensure peaceful and disciplined chariot pulling on the Rath Yatra day.
