Bhopal: Odisha’s athletes continued to excel at the Khelo India Youth Games 2023.
The under-17 boys won the 4×100m relay event on Saturday. All four runners who brought Odisha glory — Jayaram, Rajendra, Nitish and M Reya — are trainees of Odisha Reliance Foundation Athletics HPC. Jayaram topped the 100m sprint a day earlier.
The girls’ 4×100 relay team was also among the medals, finishing third to clinch bronze. The trio of Sabita Toppo – who won the long jump gold yesterday — Jamuna Tudu, Laxmipriya Kisan are cadets of Odisha Reliance Foundation Athletics HPC, Marymukta Soreng is from Sundargarh.
Swagat Behera, another Odisha Reliance Foundation Athletics HPC trainee, grabbed silver in triple jump, while Merymukta Soreng added to Odisha’s medal haul with bronze in triple jump.
Odisha were in fourth place at the end of Day 6 with 9 gold, 4 silver and 7 bronze for an aggregate of 20 medals.
Haryana, Maharashtra and hosts Madhya Pradesh currently occupy the top three places.
