Bengaluru: Like so many celebrities from different spheres, Indian cricket star KL Rahul has come forward to help the needy section of the society who have been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic and the consequent lockdown.
The stylish opener has auctioned his cricket gear to raise funds for underprivileged children.
In collaboration with Bharat Army – Team India’s No. 1 global supporter group – Rahul put his Test, ODI and T20 jerseys, bats, pads and helmets into the auction. The response was amazing.
The 28-year-old Bengaluru cricketer’s bat received Rs 2,64,228; ODI and T20 jersey fetched Rs 1,32,774, Rs 1,13,240 and Rs 1,04,824, respectively; his helmet was sold for Rs 1,22,677 and other cricket gear was picked up for Rs 33,028.
The total money raised was a whopping Rs 7,99,553.
Announcing his decision to auction his gear on his birthday earlier this month, Rahul had said that the money raised would go to the Aware Foundation, which takes care of underprivileged and deprived children in India.
