New Delhi: A day after telling the Supreme Court that the board exams for Classes X and XII stood cancelled, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Friday submitted a detailed notification on the matter.
As per the CBSE notification, the assessment of the performance of students in the cancelled exams will be done based on an assessment scheme.
The results based on the assessment scheme will be declared by July 15 so that candidates can apply for admission in higher education institutes.
The notification further said that for Class XII, CBSE will conduct optional exams in subjects whose exams were scheduled from July 1-15 as soon as conditions are conducive to hold the exams.
The candidates whose results will be declared based on the assessment scheme will be allowed to appear in the optional exams and marks obtained in the latter will be treated as final.
However, no further exams will be conducted for Class X and the results on the basis of the assessment scheme will be treated as final
Assessment Scheme:
(i) For students of Classes X and XII who have completed all exams, the results will be declared based on performance.
(ii) For the students who have appeared in more than 3 subjects, the average of marks obtained in the best 3 subjects to be awarded in subjects whose exams haven’t been conducted.
(iii) The students who have appeared in exams in 3 subjects, the average of marks obtained in the best 2 subjects to be awarded in subjects whose exams haven’t been conducted.
