Bengaluru: A 38-year-old man who used pigeons to help him break into locked homes was arrested by Bengaluru police. The accused, Manjunath—also known as ‘Parivala Manja’—reportedly stays in Hosur, but a native of Nagarathpet in Bengaluru. According to reports, police suspect that he is responsible for at least 50 burglaries across the city.
How pigeons helped him?
Manjunath would carry pigeons with him as he surveyed buildings for carrying out burglary, reported the Times Now. His focus was mainly on multi-storey buildings, which had no security personnel. After spotting a target, he would release one or two pigeons near the building. The birds would often fly to the rooftop or a balcony, drawing little attention, the report stated. If residents confronted, Manjunath would tell that he was trying to catch his pigeons. This helped him blend in, reports claimed.
Once he identified a locked house, he would break in using an iron rod. He would use the rod to smash the front door. Thereafter, he would steal valuables from the house, typically targeting gold jewellery and cash. He would later sell the stolen items in Hosur.
Arrested multiple times
He was arrested multiple times in the past. But, he continued his criminal acts after each release on bail. After he was arrested recently, police solved at least four burglary cases in the City Market and Ulsoor Gate areas. Police reportedly claimed that he carried out the thefts alone.
