New Delhi: Churu in Rajasthan was the hottest place in the globe on Saturday as temperature rose to nearly 51 degree Celsius there.
As intense heat wave conditions gripped the northern plains, Churu registered a record high this year as the temperature shattered the 50 degree barrier and registered 50.8 degree Celsius.
There was no respite from the heat wave conditions in the national capital as well and the roads wore a deserted look as residents remained indoors throughout the day. The high for the day stood at 45 degree Celsius.
According to the weather department, mountainous Himachal Pradesh also came under the grip of heat wave conditions. The temperature at Mandi soared to 40.5 degree Celsius, followed by Una at 44.9 degree Celsius while Bilaspur recorded 43 degree Celsius.
