Phulbani: An Army jawan, who had allegedly raped a woman homeguard in Kandhamal district on Friday night, married the survivor in a temple in presence of police on Monday.
The officials of G.Udayagiri police station had made all arrangements for smooth conduct of the marriage at Tarini temple here.
The accused also ensured the police personnel to lead a happy life with the woman.
According to information, the Army jawan and an Armed Police Reserve (APR) constable reportedly barged into the woman’s house at Telisahi in the district where she stayed alone. They forcibly took her to the roof of the house and then raped her.
Based on a written complaint lodged by the homeguard at G. Udayagiri police station, the accused was detained.
