Patna: The Opposition INDIA bloc had claimed that BJP had lost moral right to govern the country after falling 32 short of majority on its own in the Lok Sabha elections. Some leaders also doubted whether Narendra Modi would be able to sustain a coalition government, for the first time in his stint as Prime Minister.
On Friday, former Bihar Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav claimed that the NDA government, headed by Modi for the third straight time, could fall by August as it was very weak.
“I appeal to all party workers to be ready, as elections can happen anytime. Modi’s government in Delhi is very weak, and it could fall by August,” Lalu said.
The BJP won 240 seats – lowest in the last three Lok Sabha elections – and, thus, had to rely on its allies to form the government, with NDA tallying 293 seats.
Addressing party workers on the RJD’s foundation day, Lalu expressed satisfaction with the party’s performance in the general elections, having won 4 seats.
Lalu’s son and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said he won’t shy away from taking tough calls if chosen to lead the party.
“We’ve conducted a review of our performance in the Lok Sabha election. If I’m chosen to lead the party, it is my responsibility to lead it to victory. I will not shy away from changing MLA candidates,” Tejashwi said.
