Bhubaneswar: A leopard cats was found dead within 24 hours of being brought to Nandankanan Zoological park, on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, from Itanagar zoo under an animal exchange programme.
It was found dead under mysterious circumstance last night. The zoo authorities said that the reason behind the death of the wild cat is still unknown. The exact reason can be ascertained only after the postmortem, they added.
Along with the two leopards cats, Nandankanan had welcomed hoolock gibbons, which are found in the northeast, after 35 years on Tuesday in exchange for two tigers – Rocky and Sohini and three gharials – following the approval of the Central Zoo Authority (CZA).
